Choosing wood pellets for home heating
Wood pellets are compressed wood granules used as fuel in compatible boilers and pellet stoves. Start with your appliance manual.
Boiler or pellet stove?
A pellet boiler can supply central heating and, depending on the installation, hot water. A pellet stove heats a room; hydro models require a suitable connected system. Pellets are not a universal replacement for logs in every fireplace.
What does 6 mm mean?
This is the pellet diameter. Check the required diameter and fuel grade in your boiler or stove manual. Compare ash, moisture and calorific value using documentation for the specific product.
How much fuel should I order?
Actual consumption from the previous season is the best starting point. Demand depends on insulation, floor area, weather, temperature and system efficiency. We do not promise that one pallet lasts a specific number of months.
A pallet is not always a tonne
In our example, 65 bags of 15 kg equal 975 kg net, or 0.975 tonnes. To compare offers, divide the pallet price by its weight in tonnes and add confirmed transport.
Delivery and storage
Prepare vehicle access and an unloading area. Confirm a tail lift and pallet truck with the carrier. Store bags in a dry place protected from water and moisture.
